Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam (MTM) Scheme

  • The MTM scheme is a flagship program of the Government of Tamil Nadu offering a holistic and comprehensive set of “Home Based Health Care Services” to ensure a continuum of care, sustainability of the services, and meet the health needs of beneficiaries in the family.
  • The MTM clinic at RGGGH is one of a kind. All individuals who visit the OPD of RGGGH for the first time are screened (hypertension, diabetes mellitus, oral cancer, breast cancer, and cervical cancer) under a single roof to ensure comfort and efficiency.
  • This early screening helps reduce morbidity rates as well as improve quality of life.
  • Principles of Primary Health Care applied in MTM:
    • Equitable distribution – Universal Health Care
    • Community Participation – IEC activities
    • Appropriate Use of Technology – Non-Invasive/Minimally invasive screening tests
    • Intersectoral Co-Ordination – Line listing of individuals requiring home-based care and linking beneficiaries with the field team.

Rural Health Training Centre

  • Acts as a training centre for undergraduate and postgraduate students of Madras Medical College.
